Brief History:
Penyrenglyn Junior School was opened in 1911. When the school first opened boys and girls were separated but in 1964 the headmaster, Mr Charlie Evans, amalgamated the classes. When the school closed in 2003 the school had 168 pupils in 5 mainstream classes and two special classes, with seven teaching staff and a deputy head, all under the direction of its headteacher Mr John Griffiths. The school had a high record of achievements in many fields of sports and the pupils had played as far afield as Scotland.

Both schools closed during Spring 2003 and the children were transferred to a newly built school on the Baglan Field named Penyrenglyn Community School. When the buildings went on the market in September 2003 the new owner immediately put the site up for sale and in October of that year the area was sold to a local businessman.
