What stories lie behind our own four walls? A new six part series, STORIES FROM THE STREET will be opening the front doors of the most interesting streets in Wales, exploring the houses that make them, talking to the characters who live in them and discovering the history that made them what they are today.
Presenter Lucy Owen hears recollections and tales from generations of residents while architect Chris Loyn delves into the history of the houses themselves, explains why the streets look like they do today and he’s been exploring some unusual homes on the streets. Archive footage shows how the streets used to look and how the residents lived decades ago.
Lucy says, “I’ve loved working on this series. Every street we’ve visited has a real story to tell, a rich history and a promising future. People living on the streets have told wonderful stories and given a fascinating insight into what it was like to live in the street in the past, and what it’s like now. I’ve met some fantastic characters who’ve been so open. They’ve told some very moving stories and funny ones too!”
Throughout the series, Chris Loyn and Lucy will be visiting more of Wales’ most historic and intriguing streets including Quay Parade in Aberaeron, West Parade in Rhyl, Herbert Street in Treherbert and Clydach Street in Grangetown, Cardiff. The wealth of secrets, stories and characters may be just up your street!
The series is an Al Fresco production from ITV Wales, produced by Liz Lloyd Griffiths and directed by Ronw Protheroe. This programme is subtitled. Teletext page 888.
The Treherbert episode will be shown
