HISTORY - PEOPLE - AUTHORS - SEAN JAMES CAMERON, Penyrenglyn.


SEAN JAMES CAMERON (1974-present) grew up in Penyrenglyn at the head of the Rhondda Fawr, first living on Hopkin Street before moving to Eleanor Street at the age of one.

He attended Penyrenglyn Infants and Junior Schools before moving onto Pentre Grammar School and subsequently Treorchy Comprehensive School.
By the age of sixteen Sean had become a well known figure in the Treherbert community through his activities with the Selsig Amateur Operatic Society, Treherbert and District Gardening Society and Carmel Chapel as well as being one of the founder members of the Treherbert and District Forum. He also worked as Regional Correspondent for the Rhondda Leader newspaper and South Wales Echo.

In 1996 he relocated to Cardiff to pursue a career in the television and film industry. Living on Colum Road Cathays for a year, he later moved to Railway Terrace Canton before settling in England during the Summer of 2001. While in Cardiff he became involved with CSV Training Wales on many of their community productions. He has worked with many celebrities and pop bands including the Australian band, Crowded House.

Recent credits have included working as Assistant Producer on films for Channel 4, Film-on-Four, E4 and British Screen. During 2002 Sean held the position of Media Supervisor for the XVII Commonwealth Games.

He is currently producing his first feature film set against the background of 1980’s Britain, which will be released world-wide in 2005. Besides all this he still finds time to continue writing about the history of Rhondda.
