Background
Established early 2004 via several public meeting, serving the 450 properties within the Pen yr Englyn village area.

Skip collection
The Group gained funding to place a number of skips around the village and then invited local residents to use the skips. The skips were then collected once full

River Clearance & Flower Planting Undertaken
Worked with CwmNi’s environmental theme group and local residents to undertake a river clean day and bulb planting day with the village. (In total over 125 residents helped over the five CwmNi villages).

Safe Routes to School
The Group are working towards an improved route along Oak Street and the Baglan fields for the Safe Routes to School initiative being introduced by the Council.

Possible Future Projects
o Investigating the possibility of cleaning up land to the rear of the Turtle Beach
o Examining the feasibility of constructing a Riverside Walk to the rear of Eleanor Street

 

 

The group are about to begin their induction training and are preparing for a village forum to consult with local residents on future projects. Meanwhile their first project in conjunction with CwmNi has been the placement of community skips during March. Members recently participated in the ‘Five Village’ river clean-up organised by CwmNi. The group are currently looking into the future use of the old Penyrenglyn School site, an issue of major concern within the village.

ACHIEVEMENTS

The most recently established of the five forums the group are about to begin their induction training. They are preparing for a village forum to consult with local residents on future projects. Their first project has been the placement of community skips which during the week on 29th March 2004. The Group is currently looking into the future use of the old Penyrenglyn School site.
