Established
by CwmNi in Summer 2003, the Blaen-y-Cwm Steering Group have made tremendous
strides in securing funding for environmental projects within the village.
These have included painting of benches and bins on the square, the new flower
planters for the square and removing overgrown vegetation and dead trees. The
Group also worked with the Environment Agency in March to remove overgrown vegetation
along the course of the river and in May participated in the ‘Five Village’ river
clean-up organised by CwmNi.
The steering group was successful in obtaining £2,000 of Communities First
Trust Fund money to run an environmental project during the summer. In fact the
group have been successful in obtaining funds totalling £3,800 since they
were formed – well done!!
CwmNi’s Environment and Housing Theme Group have assisted in funding the
works being carried out in Blaen-y-Cwm such as the new flower planters for the
village square.
